History of World Food Day

World Food Day was first celebrated on October 16, 1981. However, in 1979, the 20th session of the General Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) convened. During this conference, they proposed establishing a day dedicated to raising awareness about the food situation.
